Rep. Larry Haler invites constituents to coffee to discuss upcoming legislative session

Rep. Larry Haler, R-Richland, is holding a district coffee hour to discuss the upcoming 2014 legislative session.  The event will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Commons area of the CSA Building, 719 Jadwin Ave. in Richland.

Haler, who is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and serves as the ranking member on the House Higher Education Committee, said he is excited to hear from constituents and anticipates a lively discussion over health care, the operating budget, a potential gas tax, education and other issues.

“I've always found the citizens in my district to be engaged, active and concerned about their communities,” said Haler. “Whether it be at the city, county, state or federal level, the individuals in the Eighth Legislative District take a keen interest in their government.  Hearing from the people that I represent in the Legislature is an absolute honor and I take their opinions, concerns and views with me to Olympia.  They are at the core of each and every decision I make on their behalf.”

The 60-day 2014 session is scheduled to start on Monday, Jan. 13.
